Only Bob Dylan Is Bob Dylan
the poet sits on a dark park bench
drinking mad dog 2020 with a drunk
a crumpled penthouse invite
in his pocket
the clever ones complain
while drinking champagne
impressed with themselves for changing
poetry's worn out face:
when metaphors could be understood
they were no good
the drunk never puts another
in his place
this man of the streets got the beat
he knows all carts and cargo weigh the same
he sits with just one face his red eyes watching
those hard-yoked eyes have seen it all before
he's seen the new emperors
in their fashionable clothes
ragged rumplestiltskins failing
to spin their straw to gold
the moon is missing the booze is gone
the poet pats the old drunk's hands,
grateful,
before going home to write
a pulitzer prize winner poem
unconcerned with the causes of clever
just thinking about sitting on a dark park bench
finding a face for that moon

Guess you posted this twice twice
Anyway, I see the drunk, the creative forces sometimes unaware of the many struggles of others.
May e you could put this to the music of “Blowin’ In The Wind?” Smiling

i have revised this a bit. i was taking a shot at those who call themselves new or nuanced language poets. who think all traditional poetry stinks. you may not know any. if not lucky you. can't put it to dylan's music. i don't think he would give me permission lol

Loved everything up to "grateful" and inclusive of that.
Forgive me, but the last five lines come across as vindictive indulgence.
Great rhythm/cadence, and a wonderful use of the lack of punctuation!
(You ought stutter more!!!!!!!!!!!)

thanks. i can see maybe a little vindictive but not in last 5 lines. it is a put down to those who call themselves new or nuance language poets. they are people who post on face book, not anyone famous. you may never see anything from one of them. you won't be missing anything. i am also saying that dylan, a brilliant poet, would rather talk to a drunk than be with the uppity egotistical poets who do exist besides on face book. he was never uppity. and i think he would really prefer talking to the drunk, the common man. he himself was once picked up by a cop who thought he was a homeless vagrant lol lol. imagie anyone in usa not recognizing bob dylan
