My lifeline is a thirty foot tube
breathing is a bit hard today
Can't run or sing, do most anything
That tube is always in the way
So much water, rain in the air
Makes it very hard to breathe
Carry them tanks everywhere
Walk too far, I begin to weave
Like a drunken sailor, stumble along
Started smoking in middle school
I was alright, THEY were wrong
Thought the Marlboro Man was cool
Dante, our dog, stretches - from his cute behind
to his graceful neck, paws outstretched
and tendons taught, his cold nose pressed
back and forth between our sleepy faces
No alarm needed!
We get up before the coffee is ready
Her hair disheveled, but somehow lovely
Mischievous pats on our derrieres
a favorite part of the daybreak waltz
Get the creamer, grab a clean spoon
beep, beep – our caffeine is ready!
I Like, Didn't Like (Kevin)
I liked; his pretty pink skin
that burned easily in the sun.
I didn't like his short temper
like a rapid shot from a gun.
I liked that he was a carrot top
shone in the sun a head of red hair.
I didn't like his patience with me
monsterous, it gave me a scare
I liked his Harley Sportster
and riding on back with no hands.
I didn't like the bugs in my teeth
or sun in my eyes, or wind in hair strands.
I want to give you my all
When I hear destiny’s call
Before into your eyes I fall
Like a divine waterfall.
Not a moment I’ll stall,
I’ll be stopped by no wall
And fear no damn brawl,
Cause it’s my heart that you stole.
Instead, I’ll stand tall,
I will gladly play ball
Step boldly into the dance hall.
I’ll see you come fall,
Bring back your maroon shawl,
And by the river we’ll stroll.
It is my ultimate goal
To just give you my all.
The dark, moonless night is silent
but for a panting breath
He slinks among the gravestones
his presence, meaning death
Hunting alone just thrills him
he needs to run and play
Anubis loves his master, but...
he needs to have his way
Chasing down his victim
growling, tearing their clothes
is much better than the hunting
when everybody goes
He likes Sir Gee, but his meals
aren't tasty as his own
He likes to strip the meat from prey
chew upon their bones
neopoet contest #15 random (2) I Was Lost
I Was Lost
My Mother
Is mine!
I had her before you did!
I am the oldest of us all
watching you, the others
come into the world after me.
I think that all of us have
our own memories of "just me and mom"
The times when she comforted us
the times that we needed her most
The rest of us faded into the background
because we knew, she was there for us all
The Hangman’s tail
Suspending my disbelief,
The first, the very first
Left his mortal coils behind
And left in fabulous distraction,
Where no man has been saved,
Then Howard, who loved horses
Decided that Darlinghurst was not too far away-
And a darling handsome of the crowd,
Took up the mantle of knotting the final circuit-
Lost of nose, that did not spite his face,
Yet the habit of his time's habit ended him.
I have more care to stay than will to go
And all the things I left behind,
I’ll eventually forget to know.
All the words I did not write,
To the pen I hold back tight.
I can’t hold onto this feeling,
Next to your grave I am gently kneeling.
Death was a dog panting at your doorstep,
And you so kindly let him in.
I like the dawn and the early hours
I like the morning's dew, opening flowers
I don't like the lonely dark,
nor the slap of hate, leaving a mark
I like the smile of a doggy grin
and the kiss when she comes in
I don't like the weak and tired tales
I don't like when the storm prevails
I like the smell of her perfume
I like the way she leaves a room
I don't like it when woken from a snooze
I don't like people drinking too much booze
